How to sell on Vinted: fees, shipping, payouts and rules

On this page · 9
Vinted is the most searched-for second-hand platform in Lithuania: its name is typed into Google about 450 000 times a month. It is free for the seller, and the platform itself handles the whole technical side – payment, the shipping label, disputes. So what matters most here is not “how to list” but how to list so that the item gets bought and the money reaches you without a hitch.
This article covers the whole process of selling on Vinted according to the rules of the platform's Help Centre: who pays what, how quickly you must ship, when you get the money, what you may not sell and when the tax inspectorate finds out about you.
In short
- Listing and selling cost nothing, and the number of listings is unlimited. The platform fee (usually 5 % + 0,70 €) and shipping are paid by the buyer.
- A sold item must be shipped within 5 working days, otherwise the order is cancelled automatically.
- The money reaches your Vinted wallet within 2 days of the order being completed, and a transfer to the bank can take up to 5 working days.
- Protection applies only to purchases made with the “Buy” button. Arrangements outside the platform are at your own risk.
Who pays what
| Fee | Who pays | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Listing and selling | Nobody | 0 € |
| Vinted fee | The buyer | Usually 5 % of the item price + 0,70 € |
| Shipping | The buyer | Depends on the carrier and the parcel size |
| Item verification service (optional) | The buyer | 10 € |
| Electronics verification service (optional) | The buyer | 5 € |
| Bumping a listing, “Vitrina” (optional) | The seller | Shown at checkout; a bump lasts 3 or 7 days |
The fee is shown to the buyer right next to the price, so they see the final amount. When you set the price, calculate from the buyer's side: a 20 € item will cost them about 21,70 € plus shipping. The amounts are taken from the Vinted price list, updated on 8 October 2026.
How to list an item
- Photos. You can upload up to 20. You need the whole item from the front and the back, the label with the size and brand, the fabric composition and every flaw in close-up.
- Title and description. What it is, what size, how much it has been worn, what the measurements are. Hashtags of brands unrelated to the item may not be used.
- Category and brand. Choose the deepest suitable category, for example not “Men > Shoes” but “Men > Shoes > Sports shoes > Running shoes”. If there is no brand, choose “No brand” at the bottom of the list.
- Condition. The real one, not the best possible. If the item does not match the description at all, the buyer will be able to return it and get the money back.
- Price. Compare with identical items on the platform.
- Parcel size. If you choose one that is too small, the carrier may refuse to carry the parcel.
A new listing is checked automatically. This usually takes up to a minute, but sometimes up to 3–4 days. You may not list the same item twice: if you have several identical ones, make one listing and state the quantity in the description.
Sold: shipping
When the buyer presses “Buy”, they choose the carrier and buy the shipping label themselves. In Lithuania integrated shipping works through DPD, Omniva, LP EXPRESS and SmartPosti. The Lithuanian platform is connected to the platforms of Latvia, Estonia, Poland and mainland Finland, so the buyer may be from there too.
- In your messages you receive an electronic label or a code and instructions on where to drop off the parcel.
- You pack it. Vinted recommends photographing the item and the parcel from the inside and the outside – this is evidence if the buyer reports a problem.
- You ship within 5 working days of the purchase. The deadline can be extended only with the buyer's consent.
Two mistakes that get an order cancelled
- A different label or a different carrier. You must use precisely the label generated by Vinted and the shipping method chosen by the buyer.
- An empty parcel locker compartment closed. You will no longer be able to ship with the same label – the order will have to be cancelled and the buyer asked to buy again.
When you get the money
The money paid by the buyer is held on the platform until the order is completed. After receiving the parcel, the buyer has 2 calendar days to report a problem. If they do not, or confirm that everything is fine, the order is considered completed.
| Stage | How long it takes |
|---|---|
| Shipping | Up to 5 working days from the purchase |
| The buyer's time to report a problem | 2 calendar days from delivery |
| Payment from “Pending balance” to “Available balance” | Within 2 days of the order being completed |
| Payout to a bank account | Up to 5 working days |
Before your first sale you need to activate your Vinted wallet. Its payment service provider is Adyen or Vinted Pay; you are asked for your first name, surname, date of birth, address and email, and in the case of Vinted Pay – also your citizenship and personal identification number. The accumulated funds can be spent on purchases on the platform or transferred to the bank.
If the buyer reports a problem
The money is refunded when the order was not shipped or was lost, arrived damaged, the item does not match the description at all or an item is missing from a bundle. The order is suspended, and the payment is held until the issue is resolved. You can refund part of the money, the full amount or accept a return. The buyer pays for shipping the returned parcel, unless you decide to cover the cost yourself.
What you may not sell on Vinted
The catalogue rules are long, but these are the items that most often run into trouble:
- counterfeits and unlawful copies of books, films, games;
- used cosmetics, worn underwear, earrings, hygiene products;
- medicines, vitamins, food supplements, food and drinks;
- sharp knives and bladed tools, including kitchen ones;
- live animals, items with fur, reptile skin or ivory;
- jailbroken devices, devices blocked by the operator or registered as stolen;
- promotional samples received for free;
- non-working electrical appliances with visible damage.
A non-compliant listing is hidden or deleted. For designer items you may be asked for proof of authenticity.
Safety: never leave the platform
The Vinted Help Centre says it in its first sentence: never leave the platform when communicating and paying. The refund policy applies only to purchases made with the “Buy” button. If a “buyer” asks for your email or phone number, offers to pay by bank transfer “without commission” or sends a link “to collect the money”, that is not a discount but an attempt to trick you out of your details.
Real cases from police reports
These people did not buy through a platform's payment but transferred money straight to the seller:
- Tauragė. A man born in 2001 transferred 200 € for an air flow meter found on a social network, and a young man born in 2007 – 230 € for a gaming computer. They did not receive the items.
- Klaipėda. A young man born in 2008 transferred 465 € for a car bonnet offered via a social network and did not receive the item.
- Marijampolė county, October 2026. A woman found a listing for pellets on a social network, transferred 620 € and did not receive the goods.
If you have entered details in a suspicious link or transferred money, call your bank immediately, then report it to the police via epolicija.lt or by phone on 112.
Vinted and taxes
The platform will contact you itself if you make 30 or more sales in a calendar year or sell for more than 2 000 €: you will then need to fill in a DAC7 report, and the data will be passed on to the tax authority. The report is not a tax. Selling personal belongings is usually not taxed, and there is no tax as long as the annual profit from sales is below 2 500 €. Profit here means that you sold for more than you bought for.
If you buy items in order to resell them, that is already an activity that must be registered. Which form suits you – see the ACS.lt article “Self-employment: certificate or business certificate”.
